A Formula 1 weekend is a compressed engineering contest: three days to understand a circuit, dial in a car and out-think nineteen rivals.
The standard weekend
- Friday — two practice sessions; teams test setups and long-run pace.
- Saturday — final practice, then qualifying sets the grid in three knockout rounds.
- Sunday — the Grand Prix itself, where strategy and tyre management usually decide the result.
Sprint weekends
Some rounds replace part of the schedule with a short sprint race, adding a second qualifying session and extra points — and extra jeopardy for teams still learning the track.
